There has been much talked about what exactly Johnny Depp is planning to do these days, especially after Deadline broke the story that he would star as Whitey Bulger in Barry Levinson’s Black Mass. It caused some to raise a lot of questions about whether he would continue as the star of Transcendence, a film being helmed by Wally Pfister, Chris Nolan’s (The Batman Trilogy, Inception) cinematographer.

With so much confusion out there, Depp’s reps have now clarified what exactly he intends on doing. Depp’s next project to hit the big screen will be his reunion with Gore Verbinski in The Lone Ranger, out this summer.

According to Depp’s reps, “Johnny Depp is set to star in Transcendence, the directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister. The film will begin principal photography in April. Following Transcendence, Depp will segue into the crime thriller Black Mass, about notorious Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger, to be directed by Barry Levinson.  Filming is beginning in early summer of 2013.”

Sounds like Johnny is going to have his hands full for a while with these two projects after the Lone Ranger hits theaters this summer. Which of the two are you most excited or curious about? Will you be checking out The Lone Ranger?
