The Daily Show to Go On Without Jon Stewart This Summer!

NULL

Adrienne Enderle

Staff Writer

The Daily Show host is trading his desk chair for the director’s seat. Deadline reports that Stewart will be helming a film adaptation based on the memoir by journalist Maziar Bahari. Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival, retitled Rosewater, will tell the true story of Bahari, and his 118 days in an Iranian prison back in 2009. The film will be produced by Scott Rudin.

Bahari is no stranger to Stewart, having been interviewed by the comedian three times on The Daily Show. He even appeared in a field piece with correspondent Jason Jones. It was this interview in fact, which the Iranian government used as evidence when accusing Bahari of espionage.

While Stewart’s away, Daily Show fans will still be able to get their fix of satirical news. John Oliver, TDS correspondent and fan favorite since 2006, will fill in for Stewart for eight of the twelve weeks.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart airs Mon-Thurs at 11/10 c on Comedy Central.
