Surf’s Up! ‘Teen Beach Movie’ Starring Ross Lynch Gets Premiere Date

Slather on that sun screen & don’t forget your shades, it’s time to hit the beach!

Disney Channel has just announced the premiere date for it’s new original tv movie musical, Teen Beach Movie. The movie stars Austin & Ally‘s Ross Lynch and The Fosters’ Maia Mitchell as a couple of surfers who somehow wind up in a classic beach party movie (think that classic episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch where they got stuck having ‘good clean fun’)

Of COURSE, there is a twist, the classic beach movie the pair find themselves in is Wet Side Story (yes you read that right – this is a take on WEST SIDE STORY). The movie is bikers vs. surfers and the soundtrack (presumably to feature Ross’s family band, R5) is a dozen songs influenced by Motown R&B and surfer rock. The movie was filmed last spring in Puerto Rico.

Tuesday July 16th

on iTunes & in stores.

After you memorize the lyrics to all the songs, TUNE IN to the Disney Channel on 

Friday July 19th at 8pm EST.

But if you can’t wait until July, you can catch the trailer when it premieres THIS FRIDAY on Disney.com at Midnight & 9pm on the Disney Channel.
