Harry Freakin’ Potter has officially left the building, folks. After more than
ONE-HUNDRED-MILLION
When A Very Potter Senior Year was announced last summer, Starkids heaved a collective sigh of relief, as no one REALLY knew if it would ever see the light of day in the first place. I vividly remember watching as thousands of Starkids streamed out of the LeakyCon Chicago ballrooms, looking as if they’d just left the funeral of their closest loved one, eyes red and swollen, tissues still in hand. I spoke to several who told me they would have freely urinated in their chairs rather than leave in the middle of the nearly 6-hour performance. I spoke to many of the Team Starkid cast immediately after as well, noting that they too, were not exempt from all of the Potter feels that they themselves had created.
When A Very Potter Musical was first performed in April 2009, no one could have imagined the impact that Team Starkid would have on the Harry Potter fandom, spawning a cult following, and entirely dedicated fandom of their very own. In the nearly 4 years since then, Team Starkid have continued to lovingly create a world of magic for Starkids, ensuring that they completed the story that began at the University of Michigan, seemingly forever ago.
Now, for all of you who missed seeing it live, we present to you, A Very Potter Senior Year. We invite you to laugh, cry, and everything in-between, as you say goodbye to Harry Freakin’ Potter, one last time.
