As you all may know by now I am pretty much all about JT. I’m not ashamed; we’ve got a 13+ year love affair going on. Reviews are pouring for Timberlake’s latest effort. Most of them are genuinely positive praising Timberlake on making a grown-up album. However, the NY Times was less than thrilled with The 20/20 Experience, stating that is was lacking emotion and basically just fell flat. Questlove, of the band the Roots, took to the message boards at Okayplayer.com to defend Justin and The 20/20 Experience and remind fans that the review was purely constructive criticism.

Questlove recounted conversations he had with Justin concerning the album and that his goal was to make an album that appealed to the masses, but more importantly an older crowd. “I will say the album is OVERLY ambitious. like a LOT of ideas crammed into one,” Questlove remarked “I admire the balls it took to make this record. ‘cause he coulda easily urshurd his work in and made diplo his teddy riley to 20/20’s dangerous instead of sticking with timb’s Quincy.

While discussing his thoughts on the album, Questlove also revealed a big piece of news, “Spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in nov. (10 songs now…..10 songs later= 20 vision).” I shall call it now, 2013 will be the year of the Timberlake. 2 albums, a stadium tour, and late night talk show domination? I can’t even begin to fathom what else he may have in store!
