It’s official! Kate Winslet has joined the cast of Divergent. Winslet will start as Jeanine Matthews in the upcoming film adaptation of the YA thriller directed by Neil Burger. The cast has been filling out nicely recently with its additions, Winslet being its latest one (and I could not be more thrilled about it!).
Divergent snagged Shailene Woodley as its lead. Woodley made headlines earlier this week by being confirmed as the lead of another book to film adaptation making its way to the big screen, The Fault in Our Stars, which is quite the coup for the young actress.
In addition to Woodley and Winslet, Theo James is in as Dauntless instructor Tobias “Four” Eaton, Jai Courtney as the sadistic leader of the Dauntless faction and former Erudite transfer Eric, Zoe Kravitz as Tris’s friend Christina, Maggie Q as Dauntless ally Tori, and Ansel Elgort as Tris’s brother Caleb.
Production for the film is set to start next month in Chicago. Sounds like Divergent will be quite the movie with this casting news!
