Finally we get our first good look at Benedict Cumberbatch returning as Sherlock Holmes for series 3 of Sherlock.
From the set report and photos released by Daily Mail we can see the cast and crew filming the first episode of the new season, The Empty Hearse (based on Conan’s The Adventure of the Empty House), in Bristol Monday night around what appears to be a bonfire.
We left season 2 with Sherlock’s fake suicide, and The Empty Hearse will be the explanation of how he faked it and his inevitable return (well…hopefully. With the way this show works one will never know what is going to happen until it happens).
Along with Cumberbatch, Amanda Abbington (Martin Freeman’s partner) was photographed filming. There is speculation that she will be playing Mary Morstan (Dr. Watson’s wife) but nothing has been confirmed.
The new series is expected to be released later this year.
