blockbusters, Channing Tatum was the ‘man of the moment’ last year with the likes of Magic Mike, The Vow and 21 Jump Street all doing extremely well at the box office. It doesn’t look like he’s stopping there either, I’m sure he’s trying to cram in all the movies he can before his wife (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) gives birth to their first child later this year.

Tatum’s latest movie White House Down, is directed by Roland Emmerich (2012, Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow – I can sense a bit of a theme here)the action film is set to be released this summer. It’s about a man and his daughter (Tatum and Joey King – she played the young Talia Ah Ghul in TDKR) on a tour of the White House, when the president’s residential comes under attack. John Cale (Tatum) a capitol policeman makes it his duty to fight back against these invaders in order to protect his daughter and the president (Jamie Foxx) himself.

The film has been widely compared to Gerard Butler’s new film Olympus Has Fallen which pretty much has the same plotline, terrorists take over the White House and Butler’s character must try and protect the president. The two films won’t necessarily lock horns at the box office as Olympus Has Fallen has already been released in the US, whereas White House Down isn’t released until 28th June in the US. To all you UK’ers out there, White House Down isn’t out until 6th September – so that’s over two months after the US release date! I strongly suggest you avoid anything to do with film until then or you may risk spoiling the film for yourself!

The question is, will you be watching one over the over, and do you think White House Down has a better premise than Olympus Has Fallen? Or will you just watch both/neither? Let us know your thoughts!!
