Another sad and tragic loss for the music world. The mastermind and Grammy Award-winning engineer, arranger, and producer for the likes of Ray Charles, Billy Joel and Paul Simon died today of complications from his heart surgery. Phil Ramone was 79 years old at the time of his death.
Phil Ramone lived in Wilton, Connecuit, had just had elective surgery on Feb. 27th in order to prevent a possible aortic aneurysm, according to his son Matt Ramone. Phil developed pneumonia and passed on this very morning at the New York-Presbyterian hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. You will surely be missed.
