The suit is being filed following the conviction of Michael’s doctor for involuntary manslaughter after his death June 25th of 2009. AEG is denying everything, claiming they were in no way responsible for Michael’s propofol overdose and that they “could not have foreseen the circumstances that led to Jackson’s death by overdose of the powerful anesthetic.”

The jury selection included a 24-page section of a questionnaire that focused on each person’s personal thoughts and opinions about his life, music, and family. It also questioned them as to how they felt about media coverage and how comfortable they are with deciding a multi-billion dollar case.

Katherine Jackson is asking for a $40 billion settlement, however it is up to the jury to determine how much in damages will be awarded as well as the role AEG had in his tragic death. The jury can also decide that it was indeed Michael’s own fault that he died and set a limit on the collected damages.

MJ, if you’re watching this from whatever afterlife you are in, I hope you see what a disaster this is. RIP King of Pop.
