R.I.P. Roger Ebert: A Legendary Critic Passes

Often referred to as the most legendary film critic in history, Roger Ebert has died at age 70. Ebert is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who put his undeniably left a thumbprint on the history of film criticism forged from spending a lifetime at the movies.

He died Thursday of complications from cancer, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The supporter of movies had been fighting thyroid cancer since 2002, and in the most recent years only spoke with help from a voice machine.

The latest show to bear his name is the PBS series “Roger Ebert Presents at the Movies,” in which he briefly appears on camera with a prosthetic chin, though other critics shoulder reviewing duties.
