A mother does not abandon her children, and that includes Mother Monster! It appears that, for some bizarre reason, the GOP wanted to get Lady Gaga to perform at their convention. As revealed in legal documents involved in a GOP lawsuit, the notoriously liberal entertainer turned down an offer of $1 million to do it. Is anyone really surprised? Gaga is a vocal supporter of President Obama, not to mention LGBT rights activist and gay icon.
Evidently in an email to Cater America, the event production company being sued by the GOP, Meachum wrote “See what it would take to get Gaga instead of Dolly [Parton],” the latter of whom also turned them down. The organization tried to get Gaga to bite by adding in a $150,000 donation to a domestic violence shelter, but that was a no-go.
The event ended up being played by Journey. Lynyrd Skynyrd was supposed to play but had to cancel due to a hurricane, which prompted the lawsuit in question..
The RNC has tried to deny this for some reason, saying that it “neither asked, offered, thought of or ever considered the idea of Lady Gaga performing at [their] convention.”
