The incomparable Barbra Streisand is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the 40th annual Chaplin Award Gala and on hand to pay homage will be some of the who’s who of Broadway.

Leading the charge to pay tribute to Babs is Liza Minnelli and Kristin Chenoweth, Digital Spy announced today. Joining them are crooner Tony Bennett and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. Streisand is to be presented with the award by her friend, and former US President, Bill Clinton. Other friends and former co-stars participating in a tribute to Streisand during the ceremony include Pierce Brosnan (The Mirror has Two Faces), Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents franchise and The Prince of Tides), Richard Dreyfuss (Nuts) and Kris Kristofferson (A Star is Born).

Organised by the Film Society of Lincoln Centre each year the Gala honours a celebrated film artist who, over lifetime, has made a significant contribution to the art of film. The Film Society describes Streisand as “a truly rare and groundbreaking talent… the first woman artist to receive credit as writer, director, producer and star of a major feature film (Yentl). She is also the first female film director to receive a Kennedy Center Honor”.
