This week marked the start of the filming for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary. The cast spent today at Trafalgar square in London, where they filmed a couple of very interesting scenes in front many eager spectators. Here is a quick overview in pictures of the entire day of filming, with thanks to Blogtorwho for taking all these pictures and sharing them on Twitter!
SPOILER PHOTOS!
It all started with probably the biggest spoiler of the day: UNIT is getting involved!
The Doctor has arrived!
And so has the TARDIS, although in a slightly less exciting way than usual…
It’s a good day to be a stunt double!
While his stunt-double is flying high up in the air, Matt Smith lets out his inner Brit and has a cup of tea in the rain.
Ingrid Oliver has joined the 50th anniversary cast, and apparently she decided that stealing Tom Baker’s scarf was a good way to start off. Very curious what the fourth Doctor would have thought of that!
Let’s hope that stunt-double was actually just a puppet… otherwise it would no longer be such a good day for him…
Both of the 50th anniversary’s latest cast members, Ingrid Oliver and Jemma Redgrave, on set among a crowd of UNIT soldiers.
The puppets are gone and the real stars take over!
The Doctor looks mad! Is it because of the UNIT soldiers calling him in, or does he just want his old scarf back?
Jenna-Louis Coleman in the TARDIS.
Eleven salutes the UNIT soldiers while Clara still hovers around above his head.
Ingrid, it’s really time you give that scarf back now! He’s getting angry!
Director Nick Hurran was present as well.
It’s all been a lie! There’s two TARDISes!
The Doctor is carrying a mysterious envelope… and he doesn’t look happy…
See, that’s better! He looks a lot happier now, while he’s waving at the crowd! I can just see him thinking, though… “I know what’s in this envelope, and you all don’t!”
And we won’t find out for another while, I’m afraid, but these pictures are definitely looking very exciting! If that isn’t enough for you, though, just think of Saturday’s episode, which will see the return of the Ice Warriors! Tune in at 18:15 BST on the BBC or at 19:00 Central Time on BBC America so you don’t miss any of the excitement!
