Talk about a misleading headline! According to deadline.com, Walt Disney Pictures has acquired a pitch entitled Labyrinth from Larry Brenner. Before you freak out, you need to know this is not a remake or in any way related to the Jim Henson’s cult classic, Labyrinth starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.
Disney’s Labyrinth will be about a mythical princess who must enter a “complex and dangerous” Labyrinth to save her father. This is nothing at all like the young girl entering the Labyrinth to save her baby brother from the Goblin King.

What an original concept!
I hope that Disney does something great with the storyline, but I am definitely breathing a sigh of relief that my favorite tight wearing/crystal ball wielding/glittery Goblin King will not be making an appearance. I think those of us with soft spots for the 1986 movie can breathe a collective sigh of relief. I also think Disney needs to rethink the name before they cause any more freak outs.
