Spotify, the digital music-streaming service that provides users with instant access to millions of songs, announced this week that it was expanding its services into several new territories. Taking its list of supported countries to 28, the service is starting up in Mexico, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Iceland.

The news comes in the wake of rumours about Twitter’s plans to launch a music service as well as Apple’s so-called iRadio, which appears to be guaranteed backing from Universal Music Group and Warner Bros.

Spotify claims to have more than 24 million active users and over 6 million paid subscribers.
