With the announcement of a Pitch Perfect sequel set to debut in 2015, it seems that the a capella craze will not be fading any time shortly. It’s no surprise, then, that a reality series related to the phenomenon is in the works. According to TVLine, 19 Entertainment – the producers who brought you “American Idol” – are set to develop a television series that follows the famous a capella competition which inspired the movie “Pitch Perfect.”

The series will not be a singing competition like the a capella hit The Sing-Off, and will instead be an unscripted reality series that follows International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) competitors throughout their journey. 19 Entertainment and their parent company Core Media have apparently reached a deal with Varsity Vocals, which was announced at the ICCA International finals recently.

Executive director for Varsity Vocals, Amanda Newman, said that the “idea [of the series] is to show what you saw in Pitch Perfect” and that it is “based on a true story about our tournament.”

Will you be interested in watching the reality television series when it airs?
