Konigsburg was the lady behind the pen for the children’s classics “The View from Saturday” and “From the Mixed-Up of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler” both of which hold the distinction of being awarded the Newbury Medal in 1997 & 1968 respectively. Her first book, “Jennifer, Hecate, MacBeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth” was the Newbury Medal runner-up in 1968 making her the only author to be both winner and runner-up in the same year!

Her stories are also no stranger to being adapted for the screen, both big and small. This includes her work, “The Hideaways” which was made into a movie in 1973 starring Ingrid Bergman.
