A new frontrunner has emerged in the hunt for the director of the S&M love story Fifty Shades of Grey.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Joe Wright, who directed Anna Karenina, has emerged as the top choice to direct. Focus Features, who is producing the movie with parent company universal, has worked with Wright four times in the past.
Neither Focus Features nor Universal has confirmed Wright’s potential involvement at this time.
Once a director is announced, then casting will heat up in earnest for the lead roles. The current screenplay for the movie was written with an NC-17 rating in mind due to graphic depictions of sex.
