E! Does Not Renew “Chasing the Saturdays” for a Second Season

It looks like “Chasing The Saturdays” has failed in its race for viewers as there will not be a second season of the E! reality TV show.  The show which chronicled the band’s attempts at breaking the US market reported viewing figures as low as 100,000 as the American viewing public didn’t take the girls happy go lucky friendship to their hearts.  Reports suggest that viewers were not impressed by the lack of fights and tantrums which are so commonplace in reality shows such as this.

E! are quick to point out that “Chasing The Saturdays” was only commissioned for one season, and there is still talk of a Christmas Special. Although viewing figures did dwindle to tiny numbers, the show did show the girls claiming their 1st UK Number One single with “What About Us” and it also showed the human side of the band, especially the currently pregnant Frankie Sandford and her battle with mental health issues.

However, whilst the band’s management are no doubt disappointed in the cancellation of the show, the girls themselves have an exciting few months ahead of them.  They are releasing a new single in the UK called “Gentlemen” next month and their will soon be another couple of mini-Saturdays to join Una Healy’s beautiful daughter Aoife.  Rochelle’s baby with Marvin Humes, from the now disbanded JLS, is due any time and Frankie has just announced she is pregnant with her first child with soccer player Wayne Bridges.

So we may not be able to catch up with the girls on a weekly basis, but I am sure we will see much more of these girls as their lives take on a new dimension in the coming months.
