ABC’s fall schedule was announced Tuesday, and Once Upon A Time is coming back for its 3rd season with one of its actors returning as a series regular, according to TVLine.
We first met Michael Raymond-James on the hit ABC show Once Upon A Time when his character kicked off the Season 2 premiere back in September. He appeared in the first two minutes walking the streets of New York before receiving a mysterious message on a postcard from someone in Storybrooke.
He then wasn’t seen until five episodes later in “Tallahassee”. We found out who he was exactly – Neal Cassidy, Emma’s ex and Henry’s father. Raymond-James’ character became more of a core character when it was revealed that he was Rumplestiltskin’s son, Baelfire. With that revelation, the core family tree extended and Rumple’s search was over even though Neal/Bae wanted nothing to do with his father.
However, the family drama was the least of their problems as seen on the season 2 finale. Neal’s fiancée Tamara had been playing him all along, using him to get to magic and destroy Storybrooke. In an attempt to save Emma, Neal was shot and fell through a portal that brought him to Fairytale Land. Three characters that were introduced in the first half of the season – Philip, Aurora, and Mulan – found Neal Injured, unconscious, and washed up on shore.
With the upgrade to series regular, I think it’s safe to say that Neal/Bae won’t be dying or forgotten anytime soon. But I do wonder how the search will go and what path will be taken to get between Neverland and the Enchanted Forest.
