Well folks, it seems like we can never have nice things.
And with people around like One Million Moms (a notorious anti-gay group with a penchant of pushing its conservative beliefs on others) it seems like nice things are destined to be destroyed.
The New Normal, a progressive show centered on a gay couple awaiting fatherhood, was a show truly worth watching. It not only showcased a harmonious future where coexistence was normal, but celebrated.
Now the The New Normal has been pulled from the air after only one season, and One Million Moms is taking the victory claiming that the cancellation was “due to their persistence at keeping their children safe and immorality off the air” per a letter sent to Joe. My. God (a prominent blogger on gay rights news).
According to ratings however, the show had started off strongly (6.88 million viewers) and slumped down to 1.4 million by the season finale.
Sorry One Million Moms, it wasn’t your “persistence” but people’s boredom. Guess being gay isn’t as big a deal as everyone thought, huh?
