It looks like the wait for season three of Sherlock is going to be a little longer, Sherlockians.
Despite rumours hitting the web about the new season airing mid-September, BBC has yet to actually announce when the show is set to return.
On Thursday both Sue Vertue and Mark Gatiss took to their Twitter accounts to inform the fans that, unfortunately, a date has not yet been set.
Mark Gatiss, co-creator and Mycroft Holmes himself, said: “Incidentally, anything online about transmission dates etc is entirely bogus. Nothing will be decided for months yet. #Sherlock”
The message from Vertue (producer) is much the same, tweeting: “Hello everybody, sorry to be repetitive but no, #sherlock is not (nor ever was) going out in September. We don’t have airdate confirmed yet.”
Alas, the wait continues! But considering Gatiss also tweeted that the third and final episode of the season won’t start filming until “later in the summer” a turnover for a mid-September release would be almost impossible!
What do you think is a realistic return date for season three of Sherlock?
