The official website for Thor: The Dark World has been launched by Marvel Entertainment, reports DigitalSpy.

The website features the first trailer of the film, it’s synopsis, a gallery, and downloads of wallpapers and animated GIFs.

The synopsis on the website states that the sequel “continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, The Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the nine realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.”

The synopsis says that the film will take place after the events of Thor and The Avengers. In the sequel, Thor will fight to regain order in the world, but will have his plans thwarted by an even race that wants to ensure the worlds return to darkness. Yes. Thor will join forces with Jane Foster again.

The film directed by Alan Taylor will star Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins.

Talk about a star studded cast! Christopher Eccleston to boot! Whovians, it’s time to rejoice.
