Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe is set to play the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, with Once Upon A Time princess Ginnifer Goodwin as his First Lady, Jackie O.
The pair was cast for National Geographic’s, Killing Kennedy. The telepic is based on the novel by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard and will follow President JFK before his tragic assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963.
Although the role JFK’s assassin hasn’t been cast yet, Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg will be joining the cast as Oswald’s Russian wife, Marina.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, president of National Geographic Channels, Howard T. Owens announced his feelings on the casting. “We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists who have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material.”
Killing Kennedy will begin production in June while Lowe and Goodwin are on hiatus from their respective shows and is set to air later on this year around the time of the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
