May 31st saw the soft opening of a new ride at Universal Studios Orlando. The ride – “Transformers: The Ride 3D” – doesn’t officially open until the end of next month, but a number of residents and tourists were able to get a sneak peek of the ride from 7 PM to 9 PM. Word spread quickly throughout the park of the soft opening, which skyrocketed the wait time. Nevertheless, guests were able to enjoy the time spent in line as they traveled through a variety of themed rooms which introduced the guests to “each Autobot, Decepticon, and human character who then tell the story of the alien robots leaving Cybertron, landing on Earth, and now recruiting visitors to prepare for battle.”
The ride contains video portions and an interactive walk-through, culminating in a full ride with 3D elements. The ride isn’t entirely new, however, as it currently exists in Universal Studios Hollywood, and originated in Singapore in 2011. Universal Orlando has gone above and beyond to make the Transformers ride the very best out of the three versions by incorporating 60-foot tall screens and 3D technology, as well as creating detailed real sets.
Videos and photos of the new Universal Orlando attraction can be found here.
