It looks like we can finally say goodbye to the ‘Darkest Timeline’… Earlier in the week I reported, that during his Podcast, Dan Harmon, the creator of NBC’s Community, had let it slip that he had been invited to return to the show, after he was unceremoniously dumped as showrunner, almost exactly one year ago.

Well, today, after a series of cryptic, Community related tweets, in which Harmon announced what he considered his ‘dealbreakers’ in returning to the show, a fan tweeted him “GIVE US A STRAIGHT ANSWER”. It didn’t take long for Harmon to reply with “Yes yes yes! I’m back I’m back I’m back. You can thank @joelmchale.”

Following Harmon’s announcement, Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta Perry on the show, tweeted “Welcome back, @danharmon! E Pluribus Anus!” Fans of the show will recognise “E Pluribus Anus”, as the Greendale School Motto, that the study group the show is centred around, came up with in episode 4 of season 2 ‘Basic Rocket Science’.

In addition to Harmon, it has been learned that Writer/EP Chris McKenna, who left the series in May 2012, is also formalising his return. Both deals are expected to close in the next few days.
