There is life after Magic Mike for Mr. Abstastic himself, Matthew McConaughey.
His new flick co-starring the sexy Jared Leto (Fight Club) and the beautiful Jennifer Garner who starred with Matthew in 2009’s romantic flop, Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past, has been set for limited release later this year according to Focus Features.
The story about a “drug taking, woman loving, homophobic man” is loosely based on the real-life story of Ron Woodruff.
Woodruff was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986. After traditional treatments proved unsuccessful, he opted for a veryBreaking Bad style solution; illegal drugs. The operation turns into an unexpected enterprise known as, The Dallas Buyers Club. Don’t expect too many scenes of Matthew’s normally impeccable physique.
He went the distance for this role and fully embraced the dying AIDS patient in all aspects and portrays the character with extreme realism. Even with the all star cast and edgy storyline, a limited release could be setting this film up for a failure to launch onto movie screens across the country.
Time will tell if viewers buy into Matthew’s take on Woodruff’s story. Let’s just hope he and Garner have better success headlining together.
