The BBC have announced that the director of as yet unnamed Christmas episode of Doctor Who is Jamie Payne.
This is not his first foray into directing Matt Smith and Jenna Louise Coleman as he directed an episode this season: Hide. He has also directed recent episodes of Da Vinci’s Demons and new BBC drama The White Queen.
Unless there is a massive change in direction, Jamie will also have the unenviable task of directing Matt Smith in his regeneration scene. Whether like the other directors of recent regeneration episodes, it is unclear whether he will have two Doctors to direct.
The hour long Christmas Special will be written by Stephen Moffatt and will begin filming later in the Summer.
