After a very successful previous album in The Suburbs – winning Album of the year in 2011, despite the “Who is Arcade Fire?” meme that was created shortly after the win – the Canadian band is reportedly going to drop their newest album in September.

Revolt News has reported that sources close to the band have told them the new album will be released September 9th, which, according to Revolt, fits the timeline given by drummer Jeremy Gara.

Gara said that, “the band had been eyeing a late 2013 release date for the album” on CKCU – a radio station in Ottawa.

Unlike their previous two albums, the new one wasn’t recorded in the old Church in Quebec. This was due to structural problems that lead to a collapsed roof. The band decided to sell the building in January.

The sources also told Revolt that, “the album was recorded in multiple locations over the course of the last year. This includes the band’s widely reported stint this past March in New York at the DFA Records studio with LCD Soundsystem Frontman James Murphy.”

But according to Murphy, he wasn’t producing – just consulting. He told Rolling Stone that, “[There are] a lot of [members in Arcade Fire], and they’re mostly self-produced—like, they don’t need a producer in a certain way… I think it’s going to be a really great record, actually. I’m eager to see it come out.”

As a huge fan of Arcade Fire I cannot wait for an official announcement on the new album. Do you think it will be as successful as The Suburbs?
