With The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug still in the process of being filmed, the actors won’t have the time to promote it and its predecessor at San Diego Comic Con later this month.
Director Peter Jackson decided to film a video instead.
In the video, the Jackson starts with a statement about the decision: “I just really wasn’t ready to present anything of The Desolation of Smaug at Comic Con this year.”
“The reasons for that are — well, there’s several, really: We’re still shooting, and we’re gonna be shooting through the period of Comic-Con, so we looked at what actors we could send, y’know, to make a really cool panel, there wasn’t really anybody available. I can’t go.”
However, to make up for their absence, Jackson released another one of his production videos showing behind-the-scenes footage, a tour of the Lake Town set, interviews with the cast, and Dwarf aerobics.
Looks like this is going to have to hold us over until another trailer is released!

The next two Hobbit flicks will open on December 13, 2013 and December 17, 2014.
