Sony has released a 2-minute trailer for their follow up to 2009’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Just like the original film, the sequel will be jam-packed with food-based puns (see what I did there?). “Mosquitoasts”, “tacodiles” and “a leek in the boat” are in the trailer alone.

Cloudy grossed over $243 million (£160 million) and Part 2 is expected to do just as well.

In the sequel we find Chester V (Will Forte) hiring Flint to work at his Live Corp Company. Chester reveals to Flint that his machine wasn’t completely destroyed, and the residents of Swallow Falls have moved elsewhere, to enable the authorities to clean up the mess left by the out of control machine.  The machine itself has ended up on an island, where it’s been busy creating bizarre food/creature hybrids.

He reunites with his friends Sam (Anna Faris), Brent (Andy Samberg), Barb (Kristen Schaal), Steve (Neil Patrick Harris) and Earl (Terry Crews)to find the food-imals that have been created.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 is directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, replacing Phil Lord and Chris Miller who are stillexecutive producers.

Have a chuckle at the trailer and be prepared to want a burger afterwards.
