It should be news enough that Erin Brockovich-Ellis was arrested for DUI while boating or her argument with her husband, Eric L Ellis. But no, her mug shot soon became the star of the show, with Brockovich-Ellis looking like she has multiple bruises on her face.
Erin was arrested by Kasen Haslem, an off-duty police officer who saw the altercation between the couple on a boat docked in the Las Vegas Boat Harbour Friday. Haslem himself was refuelling his boat and reported that the legal assistant-turned-environmental activist appeared ‘highly intoxicated’.
She later registered a blood alcohol level of .190 – more than twice the legal limit of .08. ‘I watched as she threw a cell phone from the boat into the water,’ he wrote. ‘She then walked by her husband and she appeared to slap him.’
So – what of the bruises? Erin says they’re nothing more than post-plastic surgery.
She told Katie Couric, “I had recently a nine-hour surgery — I had my lower eyes done — and I still has bruising underneath. So that’s what that looked like.”

Over the weekend Brockovich-Ellis released a statement about her arrest:
“After a day in the sun and with nothing to eat it appears that a couple of drinks had a greater impact than I had realized…” she said in the statement.
“At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk. That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry.”
Brockovich-Ellis was released on $1,000 bail.
