Neil Marshall is a fan favourite with Game of Thrones fans. The episode he directed in Season 3 “Blackwater” attracted 3.38 million viewers and drew plaudits from critics and fans alike.
So it is no wonder that there is an air of excitement at the news that Marshall will be directing the Season 4 finale. The episode will film later this year with pre-production taking place in Belfast and London.
The director, writer, editor and producer is perhaps best known for directing 2002’s Dog Soldiers and earned him several awards at the 2003 Empire Movie Awards. His 2012 episode, ‘Blackwater’, was the penultimate episode of Season 3.
It is thought that the episode will feature Ciarán Hinds’ character Mance Rayder as a key player and will apparently take place at The Wall.
