It seems that Apple is always coming out with something new, and they’ve done it again! Now they are trying their hand at self-adjusting headphones. These headphones are being described as a new type of technology that would be able to adjust the sound to the size and shape of the user’s ears.

Apple put in a patent that was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) back in February, titled ‘Electronic device and headset with speaker seal evaluation capabilities’. Within, it states that the quality of the seal formed between earbuds and a user’s ears affects performance. The patent reads:

In response to seal quality measurements, informative messages can be generated for the user, overall earbud volume may be increased, balance adjustments may be made to correct for mismatched balance between left and right earbuds, equalization settings may be adjusted, and noise cancellation circuitry settings can be changed. Electrical impedance measurements and acoustic measurements can be used in evaluating seal quality”

With the above statement, Apple is addressing the fact that satisfactory noise cancellation becomes very difficult when the seal is not present, and this new device would make sure it is.

The earbuds also alert wearers when there is a problem with the fit that must be adjusted physically.

What do you think? Is this another Apple hit in the making?
