I never thought we would see this day!

It’s been officially announced by Hostess that our beloved little yellow cakes, along with many others, will in fact be back on our shelves next Monday!

There has however, been a slight change to the famous Twinkie recipe. Back in November of last year, Twinkies only had the shelf life of around 26 days. Now it’s been stated that Twinkies will last 45 days.

Hannah Arnold, a spokeswoman for Hostess says that the change to extend the shelf life of the Twinkie was actually done before the company went bankrupt.

The longer lasting treats were going to go on the shelves November 1st of last year. It was just a few short weeks later, that production had been stopped.

The New York Post reported this past week that Hostess will start freezing some of the cakes in order to extend the shelf life. Basically, Twinkies will be delivered to stores frozen, and retailers will have to thaw them and stamp their own expiration date on them.

The other Hostess products such as Cupcakes, Ho Ho’s, Zingers, Mini Muffins, Donette’s, Ding Dongs will all make their returns next week as well.

Wonder Bread however, has yet to be repurchased, so there is no telling if and when we will see Wonder Bread again.

Sno Balls and Suzy Q’s won’t be returning for at least a month a two.
