The first trailer for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom has finally been unveiled.

Idris Elba (Luther) is playing Nelson Mandela in the film directed by Justin Chadwick. The film is a biopic of the South African political titan, reports DigitalSpy.

The trailer teases the nature of the film, showing a camera panning over the plains of South Africa as Elba recites a passage from Mandela’s autobiography.
He says, “No-one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin. People learn how to hate; they can be taught how to love.”

This movie is bound to be intense. It tells the story of a remarkable man who did the unthinkable, and experienced the unbelievable. Luther actor Idris Elba might just earn himself an Academy Award. Time will only tell.
