You are not reading that headline wrong. While Sheriff Don Lamb as played by Michael Muhney met his maker at the end of season 2, we will be seeing a Sheriff Lamb in the Kickstarter-backed Veronica Mars Movie.
The twist is that this Sheriff Lamb is the older brother of Don. Stepping into the role of Sheriff Dan Lamb is Jerry O’Connell.
In his e-mail to backers, Rob Thomas describes Dan as the “amoral older brother of Don Lamb” and is the new sheriff of Balboa County.

Thomas also tells backers that when it came time to cast the role, he “lit up when Jerry’s name was raised.”
He adds that he became a fan of O’Connell after seeing him play an “amoral, coked up and soon-to-be penis-less smut peddler” in the movie PIRAHNA.
In a video to backers, O’Connell wasn’t aware that his role in the Veronica Mars movie was that of Sheriff Lamb’s brother (in the video he thinks Dan is the younger brother). He shares how he was a fan of the TV show and also what it is like working on a Kickstarter-backed film.

If you happen to be in San Diego for Comic Con this week, the Veronica Mars Movie’s panel is scheduled for this Friday at 11:15am to Noon in Hall H. Cast members in attendance will include Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Ryan Hansen, Francis Capra, Percy Daggs III and Tina Majorino. Footage from the film will be shown and fans will get a chance to ask questions.
The Veronica Mars Movie is scheduled to be released in early 2014.
