With the final book written, the last film wrapped up, and the amusement park up and running, one would think that there isn’t really anything left to unveil in the magical world of Harry Potter, right? Wrong.

Just last night at the San Diego Comic-Con, a brand new cover for the new edition of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was revealed. For the last few months, Scholastic has been releasing images of the series’ brand new covers designed by award-winning illustrator Kazu Kibuishi. This particular cover displays one of the novel’s most well-known scenes: Harry and Dumbledore standing outside of the cave where the counterfeit Slytherin locket was found.

Scholastic also announced that the seventh and final cover would be unveiled on July 31st, noon EST, which also happens to be Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s collective birthday. If that isn’t enough, the unmasking is being done in terms of a giant birthday celebration at the Scholastic headquarters in New York.

These new paperback editions will be available in August, in honor of the 15th anniversary of the US publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. 15 years; now if that doesn’t make you feel old, I don’t know what will.

So when will these surprises end? I don’t think they ever will. And how long will this fandom be around? Always.
