It’s only been just over a week since news broke that Glee star Cory Monteith had passed away in a Vancouver hotel. While his legions of fans are slowly coming to terms with his death, for his Glee cast mates and crew they are honouring the “greatest dude you’d ever met” by doing what they all loved doing best… living, loving and performing.
Chord Overstreet is the most recent cast mate to pay tribute to Monteith. On Saturday, Overstreet played an hour-long set at The Roxy on the Sunset Strip – his first playing live with a band. Supported by cast mates Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron, and Jenna Ushkowitz in the crowd, he dedicated an original song to his friend, stating simply “This one’s for you, Cory”.

Following the performance, Overstreet spoke to E! about Monteith and how the cast and crew are coping. Known as a giving and generous man with all he came in contact with, Overstreet remarked on the fact that he had “never met anyone who said anything bad about him [Cory]”. He also hoped that his performance that day would have made Monteith proud, and that “if he’s out there watching, I would want him to look down and give me a high five.”
As seen from the support from his cast mates at the gig, the cast and crew are rallying around each other and Lea and helping each other through this hard time. “We’re all going through it,” Overstreet said. “Everyone loved him… I spent more time with him than I have with anyone in my family in the last three or four years… We’re a family.”
A memorial service for the Glee cast and crew and other people at Fox is being planned for sometime this week on the Paramount Lot in Hollywood where Glee is filmed.
