Advertising on social networks such as YouTube and Facebook is a constant pet-hate for some people, but what about the idea of paying for a premium Facebook service?
That’s exactly what Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, has advised Mark Zuckerberg to do. He has suggested, from one entrepreneur to another, that Facebook offer a service charge of $10 (£6.50) per month to use the website ad-free.
In a blog post, Stone said how Facebook “could offer Facebook Premium. For $10 a month, people who really love Facebook (and can afford it), could see no ads. Maybe some special features too.”
He continued to say that “If 10% percent of Facebook signed up, that’s $1 billion a month in revenue. Not too shabby.”
Not too shabby at all for Mr. Zuckerberg’s back pocket.
But would people be willing to pay a small fee to stalk their friends on Facebook just to hide a few adverts?
Would you?
