Whovians, take a sit, ‘cause we have some news about the future of Doctor Who.
“The search has barely begun for the 12th Doctor” Moffat said talking to Digital Spy. Among fans is the desire to see an older actor take the part after having young Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, to which Moffat stated that there are definitely older actors on the list.
Even though Matt Smith is leaving, there are many characters that will continue in the 12th Doctor’s era, such as Vastra, Jenny, Strax, and Jenna Coleman’s Clara Oswin.
“Vastra, Jenny and Strax are all enormously popular characters, and we’ve got Clara still continuing. That allows us to do the regeneration in a very different way from the way that we did it in ‘The Eleventh Hour’”.
Speaking of the Doctor’s regeneration, Moffat hinted at plans to make something more outlandish than Matt Smith’s fairly traditional opener.
While we will have to wait a bit longer to know who will be the 12th incarnation of the Time Lord, we’ll also have to be patient with the 50th anniversary special, as they are still putting the finishing touches to the 11th Doctor’s farewell.
The first full series of the 12th is still in the works: “The scripts are coming in, we know what we’re going to do and how it’s going to end, and what it’s building to” Moffat revealed.
