Facebook used to be the “cool place” to hang out on the net. You could log on, check out what your mates were up to, share photos from that wild party last night and find out what flavor ice cream you were. Then it suddenly hit the big time and your parents and other “adults” found their way there and doing those things might not be such a good idea anymore. Well it appears that you are not alone as Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has come out denying that the social media service if losing users in the key teenage demographic.
Digital Spy reports that analysts predict there will be a mass exodus of younger users from Facebook as other forums, such as Snapchat, gain in popularity. However, Zuckerberg has hit back at the claims stating that: “Based on our data, that just isn’t true. We believe we have close to fully penetrated the US teen demographic for a while.”
Confirming these claims is extremely difficult as a number of users lie about their age to get around the minimum age limit of 13-years-old imposed by Facebook to set up an account.
According to the report, Facebook users spent 20 billion hours per day on the site throughout June, or roughly 8.3 hours per user.
Do you still regularly use Facebook or are you moving over to other forms of social media?
