The band’s new single debuted at number two with 322,000 downloads sold. This makes it the band’s highest selling single in its first week, their second Digital Songs No.1 and the band’s second-largest sales week: “Live While We’re Young” sold 341,000 when it launched at No. 1 on the Oct. 20th, 2012 Digital Songs chart.

The success of “Blurred Lines” is mainly due to the rise in airplay of the song. The song has won the Hot 100’s Airplay Gainer award for a record-extending ninth week (in a row).

Daft Punk, Imagine Dragons and Miley Cyrus complete the Top 5 in the chart. While Jay Z and Justin Timberlake jump from eight to seven with “Holy Grail”, and Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” dropped from seven to ten.
