For all you movie-buffs out there who blush every time a family member stumbles upon an embarrassing TV show you watched on Netflix, blush no more!
The company has just come out with a profile system for multi-user households. This allows viewers to browse through Netflix with their own avatar and without fear of being judged.
The profiles ensure a more personal Netflix experience in which movie and TV show suggestions are tailored for YOU, not for your Streisand-worshiping mother.
Users also have the option to connect their avatar with their Facebook account, which enables Netflix to access their information and recommend movies watched by friends.
Netflix director Eddy Wu says, “Netflix by itself is already powerful as we have strong recommendations. But social gives us an extra flavor as we see that individuals see what people have been watching, which makes it more of a communal experience,” reports Digital Spy.
Profiles have started to hit all Netflix regions today, but will gradually expand to cover every account over the next few weeks.
However, device support is going to take some time to catch up; while the PS3 is currently covered, the Android and Nintendo Wii will be supported later in the fall, reports engadget.
