Harry Potter’s all grown up. But we knew that already, didn’t we?
The twenty-four-year-old actor’s first big brush with more adult fodder came in the form of his infamous production of Equus, which premiered February 2007. This year, it’s in the form of Horns, directed by Alexander Aja and also starring Juno Temple.
Horns has been recently added to the Vanguard section of the Toronto International Film Festival, which is set to be held in September.
Based on the Joe Hill novel of the same name, the film is about a man who spends a night drinking and wakes up finding he’s grown horns that can put people in a trance and make them reveal “their most unspeakable thoughts.”
It sort of sounds like something that Adam Sandler would do, but the plot is a lot darker than it seems. Daniel’s character, Ignatius Perrish, is actually accused of killing his on-screen girlfriend. Not very Sandler-esque now, is it? Expect things to get a bit intense.
Also showing at TIFF is Dan’s film Kill Your Darlings, which is about a murder in 1944 that brings together three poets: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs.
