MTV will renew its comedy Awkward for a fourth season.
MTV decided to wait to renew until they found replacements for Lauren Lungerich; the former creator and executive producer who left the show after its third season.
Lauren explained that her departure was a “difficult decision” based on “both a combination of work and personal reasons.”
The fourth season will return under the new showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler, Deadline reports.
Alberghini and Chessler co-created noTORIous, the VH1 comedy starring Tori Spelling, and worked on The CW’s 90210, which was cancelled after five seasons.
Awkward, starring Ashley Rickards, will air the rest of its third season in the latter part of 2013.
