When she’s not chipping her teeth with a swift microphone uppercut, Taylor Swift is busy being distracted by her fan’s imaginative and wild signs at her live shows.
At the midway point of her Red tour, Swift is used to dealing with tens of thousands of idolising fans, all keen to meet the pint-sized pop star but it’s not just their crazy costumes that they bring to her performances. Speaking exclusively to Rolling Stone, Taylor has admitted: “Sometimes I get really caught up reading the signs, and if I get too caught up I will start to read the signs when I’m singing.”
At only 23, the singer-songwriter is continuing her musical domination with a series of enormous stadium shows. She understands music better than most of her peers and thrives in a live situation. “At the end of the day, the sound of a screaming crowd is my favorite sound, and the sight of a sold-out stadium is my favorite view. Everything derives from that and revolves around making those people dance, sing along, feel like they aren’t alone, and ultimately want to come back and see me next time.”
But whilst her meteoric rise might seem character building, Swift is proud to have her head still securely screwed on – Meredith, her cat, is one of her favourite things: “She is awesome. She’s like the most adorable cat in the world. There will be people who just make a giant, huge picture of my cat’s face, so big that it’s all I can see, and that usually gets my attention. My cat out there, giant photocopy of her, eight foot by eight foot.”
