Usher’s 5-year-old son, Usher Raymond V, who had been admitted into the hospital after nearly drowning while trying to retrieve a toy that was stuck in an underwater pool drain, has been said to be eating, laughing, and talking to people.

Although it may still be days until he is released, it is great to know that the little guy is showing positive signs of improvement at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. It certainly could have been a lot worse.

Luckily, two men working in the house rushed out to help when his aunt and a family maid couldn’t free his arm from the drain. One of the male workers performed CPR while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

The incident follows the tragedy of Usher’s 11-year-old stepson Kile Glover, the son of Usher’s former wife Tameka, suffering fatal brain injuries after being struck by a personal watercraft on Lake Lanier. According to sources, Usher Raymond V’s mother, Tameka, hasn’t left the hospital since the accident. TMZ is reporting that Tameka blames Usher for putting their son in an environment that led to the near-drowning accident on Monday, and has already filed legal docs seeking primary custody.
