After the dramatic and upsetting finale of Xena: Warrior Princess in 2001, Lucy Lawless has revealed that there are talks to revive the the series.

After the heroine was killed and decapitated in the series finale, fans were left heartbroken at the untimely demise of their favourite bad-ass warrior but Lawless caused quite a stir back in May with a tweet regarding a potential interest taken in reviving the series.

Talking to Stuff, Lucy unravelled her rather unrealistic ideas regarding the rebirth of the late character. “In my dreams, [we] would come back and basically stick Xena’s head back on her and go on a quest.”

Talking about the dedicated fans of the show, she confessed: “The fans were always devastated that we cut Xena’s head off… [They] will show up wherever you go, which is lovely because people are more inclined to cast you – that’s how it works in our business – that is currency.”

The series, which began as a spin off from Herucles, ran for six seasons starting in 1995 – but it’s future is still unwritten.

We can only hope our warrior queen will rise once again…
